We take environmental responsibility
Melbu Hotell is Eco-Lighthouse certified.
We were certified in September 2021 and continue to improve our environmental practices.
Through this work, we hope to reduce our environmental footprint.
Benefits for you as a guest:
- We have introduced measures in our rooms, including replacing disposable items with more environmentally friendly, biodegradable alternatives.
- 30 rooms have allergy-friendly duvets and pillows.
- All soaps are allergy-friendly and carry third-party environmental certification.
- We use environmentally friendly cleaning products in our rooms.
- We encourage our guests to:
- Avoid leaving taps running unnecessarily.
- Reuse towels if staying for more than one night.
- Sort waste in the separate bins in your room.
- Water-saving showerheads are installed in all rooms.
Breakfast:
We aim to keep food waste to a minimum, so we prepare our breakfast buffet according to the number of guests. When very few guests are staying, we serve a breakfast plate prepared to your preferences.
We value local food. You will find several locally sourced options at our breakfast buffet.
Dinner:
Our region is known for high-quality white fish, salmon, lamb and reindeer meat.
These ingredients often feature in our dinner menus. Local sourcing is central to our approach, with many dishes using meat and fish from suppliers on Hadseløya.
Activities:
When choosing an activity, we encourage you to support providers of sustainable experiences. We work with Adventure4Life, which is also working towards Eco-Lighthouse certification which is also Eco-Lighthouse certified and focuses on sustainable, environmentally friendly tours.
Other measures:
We continually work to reduce energy and water consumption and consider the environment when purchasing supplies.
