This privacy statement applies to Melbu Hotell AS, which is responsible for processing the company’s handling of personal information on its own website and booking system.
The privacy statement applies to our website. The privacy statement describes how we collect, use and share personal information when you enter into an agreement to use our website, and how we register information through cookies about your use of our website, and exchange information with third parties.
The privacy statement does not apply to third party websites, and Melbu Hotell AS does not take responsibility for the processing of personal data on these websites.
Personal information is information and assessments that can be linked to an individual.
Our processing of personal data takes place within the framework of the general rules in the Norwegian Personal Data Act with regulations, as well as other relevant regulations, such as the Marketing Act and the Accounting Act.
What personal data do we collect?
We collect as little personal data as we need and we therefore collect the following data:
- Phone number
- Payment information

We are allowed to process personal data in accordance with GDPR Article 6.1 (b) and Article 6.1 (f).
6.1 (b) Necessity to process data in order to perform a contract
When you as a guest make a reservation with us, it must be considered that a contract is entered into between you and us. We consider that the contract terminates automatically when you as a guest have checked out of our property.
We must therefore be able to use the personal information for the following:
- Our communication with you.
- History of which room you have stayed in.
- For cleaning your room.
- To be able to comply with fire regulations and for your own safety.
6.1 (f) Legitimate Interests
We and you have a number of interests that must be safeguarded, it is deemed that we must process data in order to perform the following tasks.
- Keep the history to be able to solve criminal acts.
- To comply with the Accounting Act.
- To be able to offer you as a guest the best possible user experience and service.
We will not use your personal information for anything other than the purpose of your stay. Personal data that is considered high risk will be encrypted as soon as this is possible and is not in conflict with other law.
Who do we share your personal information with?
We never share personal information with anyone other than what is necessary to achieve the purpose of your stay. We share different parts of your personal information with the following providers:
- SMS Provider for message communication.
- Email Servers / Website Hosting Providers.
- Accounting system (accounting office).
- Visbook (booking solution).
- Melbu Hotell AS (web solution).
How do we collect personal information?
We collect personal information through telephone conversations, emails, our website, Visbook, an online travel agency (Booking.com) or GDS (Global Distribution System) Google Analytics.
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer when you download a website.
Storage of information and processing of this information is not permitted unless the user has both been informed of and has given his consent to the processing. The user shall be informed of and approve which information is processed, what the purpose of the processing is and who processes the information, cf. Electronic Communications Act § 2-7b.

The analytics tool Google Analytics places two cookies on your computer (these start with _ga, _gid, _gat, AMP_TOKEN and _gac_ “property-id”). This is done so that we can collect statistics, and is deleted after 90 days.
Right to access and be deleted.
We have no problem giving you access to your personal information, contact us and we can deliver this within 30 days. Also let us know if you want to be deleted from our database, then we will delete everything that we can delete, as long as no other law prevents us from doing this.
